A new year, a new website and a new label

If you've visited us before you'll notice that the site layout has changed a bit. Please take the time to have a look around. The Artists section contains a full list of all the artists available on Surgery releases or if you prefer a more graphical approach jump to the Releases section and check out our discog. Individual Artist Profiles and release details with MP3 track previews have been added. Each album section has reviews and loads of links to more artist info from around the web.

Other News

Over the years we've recieved loads of demo submissions that didn't really fit in with what we've been doing with Surgery and always ended up in the 'other' pile. Some of these 'other' demo's have been outstanding so we've decided to start a new label to release some of these unheard gems.

This new label, 'Other Records', will concentrate on digging up a delivering some fine jazz affected trip-tronica and beat hazy mood grooves.

First out the door for Other Records will be the first full length album release from Paris based "The Flow". "The Flow" aka Ben Constable, originaly hails from Bristol, home of such triphop luminaries as Massive Attack, Tricky, Portishead and Ronnie Size, fleshed out his album in Derby before finalising the mix in Paris. More album details to follow and we'll have sound grabs at the new Other Records website when its finished, soon.

Pending release: Tim Koch / Faena

After stuffing around with releases on just about every other small electro label in Europe and the US, Surgery staff have finally managed to convince Herr Koch to release his new full length album on Surgery.

Faena is the culmination of 18 months worth of working and touring, producing material for live shows as Tim was traveling around Europe and the US. After several long months of studio refinement the album is nearly completed. All I can say is that this new album is a masterwork of electrickery, beats and smoove movin melodies and harmonies. More soon.

Qua returns from Japanese tour

Qua (aka Cornel Wilzcek) has returned from a brief tour of Japan to help promote the Headz liscensed version of "Painting Monsters On Clouds". Along with other Aussie artists Ai Yamamoto and Lawerance English they played gigs in Tokyo and Osaka. Fresh from the Corned one:

"Japan was amazing. The first show of the tour in Tokyo was also my first show OS. I was extremely nervous when I entered the venue and saw how full it was. I spent the whole time watching the support band - Miaou feeling like i was going to throw up and wet my pants, all at the same time. Fortunately I didn't and somehow the show just worked. I managed to improvise quite a lot more than usual and the new live video set I had been working on worked like a treat! After that everything was easy!

The shows down south, Kyushu were awesome. There I teamed up with other friends, Ai Yamamoto and Lawrence English. The local acts we played with were amazing. Then we head to the Kansai area and played in one of the smallest venues known to man in Osaka. Strangely they managed to squeeze in a lot of people and it became one of my favourite shows on the tour. All up - it was a blast and plan to head back at the end of the year to play new material."

Keep checking back to see when you can catch Qua live!
